Giuliano Sorgini ‎– Africa Oscura Reloved Vol. 1 & Vol.2 amazing funky Afro Grooves on vinyl, buy it here.

Giuliano Sorgini ‎– Africa Oscura Reloved Vol. 1  & Vol.2 (FOUR FLIES DJ07/08 - ITALY IMPORT), amazing double set of remixed vintage Italian Afro-Beat library grooves. Back in 2018, Four Flies Records unearthed the previously unheard ‘Africa Oscura’, considered by many as the “dark side” of ‘Zoo Folle’ – Giuliano Sorgini’s masterpiece (reissued by Four Flies Records in 2016) – and partly recorded during the same session in 1974.

The original work portrays a fictional and mysterious continent, providing a soundtrack tinged with dark moods and cosmic shades. ‘Africa Oscura’ was entirely recorded by the composer, who played all instruments in his studio in Rome. This resulted in a formal spareness, a minimalism that gives it a
modern quality, something which makes it stand the test of time, or at least resonate with contemporary taste. Since its release, ‘Africa Oscura’ has become a classic – a pivotal release not only within Sorgini’s discography, but also one that made his name more known and accessible to a new generation of music professionals, DJs and fans of electronic music.
Four Flies have thus decided to celebrate its modernity with a double 12” featuring 7 reworks by six of Italy’s most visionary DJs/producers: Jolly Mare, L.U.C.A. (aka Francisco), pAd, PainĂ©, and Quiroga & Dario Bass.
The original tracks have been reworked with different approaches, sometimes into full reinterpretations, and with demanding dance floors in mind. The result is a stunning collection of electronic, cosmic, downtempo and Balearic reworks that preserve the spirit of the original versions while projecting them into the future.

Set of 2 full length deluxe 12" EPs- note slight difference in UK and outside UK total. (Nothing added at check out)

BRUNO NICOLAI - GEMINUS ITALY SOUNDTRACK LEGEND - BUY IT HERE ON VINYL!

BRUNO NICOLAI - "GEMINUS" (FOUR FLIES RECORDS 44, ITALY IMPORT LP), another gem of an LP by our Italian partners FOUR FLIES RECORDS.

The first vinyl reissue of Bruno Nicolai’s outstanding original score for GEMINUS, a 1969 Italian TV mini-series directed by Luciano Emmer and starring Walter Chiari, Alida Chelli, and Ira von Fürstenberg.
Originally released under Italian label Gemelli, Nicolai’s soundtrack has been remastered from the original master tapes and comes in a glossy, tip-on style jacket featuring the restored original cover artwork, as well as extended liner notes by film critics Francesco Cesari and Roberto Curti.
Bruno Nicolai composed and directed an eclectic score that brings together different music genres and influences, from 60s beat, psych, and prog rock to baroque and experimental music. He did not hesitate to mix classical forms and structures with new instruments
and remarkable, eccentric arrangements.

In ‘Giano’ (Janus), the interplay between a distorted electric guitar and a hypnotic harpsichord creates a strange, somewhat troubling ambience.

The delicate, celestial voice of Edda Dell'Orso leaves its unique emotional imprint on the most lyrical piece in the soundtrack, ‘Tema Barocco’ (Baroque Theme).
The main theme ‘Il cielo cade’ (The Sky Is Falling) features a luxurious arrangement and stunning orchestration enhanced by enchanting vocal harmonies sung by ‘I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni’.

In other pieces, such as ‘Larve’ (Larvas), ‘Il sognatore’ (The Dreamer), ‘Eclisse di luna’ (Moon Eclipse), ‘Visioni’ (Visions), ‘Catacombe’ (Catacombs), and ‘Notti romane’ (Roman Nights), expressive and experimental solo passages played by instruments such as the vibraphone, sitar, harmonica, or percussions, contribute to the sombre, mysterious atmosphere of the score as a whole.

Giuliano Sorgini ‎– Occulto - AMAZING early ELECTRONIC PSYCH SOUNDTRACKS LP - buy it here on vinyl!

GIULIANO SORGINI - "OCCULTO" ( FOUR FLIES RECORDS 47, ITALY IMPORT), another extraordinary album form our Italian partners FOUR FLIES RECORDS. This is a long overdue issue of Italian genius' Sorgini's secret archives, this time one which unearths some of his darkest, eeriest music – that is, pieces he composed in the mid-70s for some of the most infamous, low-budget horror movies ever made in Italy. Sounds a bit like Moroder-esque and like an early Electro-House piece.

This collection brings together a selection of original recordings from those movies, which were directed by “Italian Kings of the B’s” Angelo Pannacciò, Salvatore Bugnatelli, Luigi Batzella, and Guido Zurli, with whom the Roman composer worked intensively throughout the 70s. Due to the very low-budget nature of the films, Sorgini recorded the soundtracks entirely on his own, in his Cat & Fox Studio in Rome. He played drums and percussions and added overlapping layers of analogue synths to create a superbly sinister soundscape, thus turning a constraint into an opportunity.
The result is a journey into the mysterious atmospheres of the Italian occult-sounding music of the time, something very close to the dark electronic masterpieces that made Sorgini famous, such as ZOO FOLLE or THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE.
OCCULTO features ten previously unreleased tracks characterized by enigmatic moods, obscure beats and esoteric themes. All tracks are taken from original master tapes that remained buried in the composer’s archives for decades.
The LP comes in a deluxe jacket and inner sleeve designed by Luca Barcellona.

Piero Umiliani - "L’Uomo Elettronico" just released 2Lp of Italian ELECTRONIC MUSIC from 1972 to 1983! BUY IT HERE NOW

Piero Umiliani - "L’Uomo Elettronico" (FOUR FILES RECORDS FLIES 50, ITALY IMPORT LP), out this week is this amazing and ultra limited deluxe 2LP set of ELECTRONIC MUSIC by a genius of the genre. We have partenred up with FOUR FLIES RECORDS to be able to sell this album from our Uk base.

Twenty years ago, what is probably still the best collection of music  by Piero Umiliani, “Musicaelettronica”, was released on Easy Tempo (in our opinion, the finest Italian soundtrack label ever).  The album, curated by Rocco Pandiani, focussed on the astonishing creative mastery with which Umiliani played around in his Sound Work Shop studio, where he had all kinds of analogue machines to
experiment with.

Not only did albums like “Musicaelettronica” inspire the very existence of Four Flies Records, but our new Umiliani release, L’Uomo Elettronico, follows on precisely from where “Musicaelettronica”  left off. While Pandiani’s selection provided an insight into the playful, lighter side of Umiliani’s electronic music, our release explores its introspective, esoteric side.

There is a dreamy, ambient quality at work here: the Maestro builds hypnotic, minimalist sonic landscapes through layers of sharp synths, including Moog, Arp, and VCS3. This music could fit equally well in a sci-fi documentary, a post-apocalyptic film, a television report on climate change, or a journey through outer space.

L’Uomo Elettronico features 3 previously unreleased tracks, as well as rarities and hidden gems, all composed between 1972 and 1983 and remastered from the original analogue tapes.

L'OCCIO NEL LABIRINTO by Nicolosi - killer Italian 1973 thriller movie soundtrack - buy it here on vinyl

ROBERTO NICOLOSI - "L'OCCHIO NEL LABIRINTO / EYE IN THE LABYRINTH" (FOUR FLIES 19, ITALY IMPORT LP), the first ever official release for this unbelievable giallo score by ROBERTO NICOLOSI, composed for the experimental thriller by Mario Caiano in 1972.
Previously issued on the Fontana label in 1973 with the title “ATMOSFERA”, this is certainly one of most sought-after Italian jazz LPs for any serious collector, featuring a five-star collective of marvelous musicians such as GIOVANNI TOMMASO (bass), FRANCO TONANI (drums), ANGELO BARONCINI (guitar), ANTONELLO VANNUCCHI (organ), FRANCO D’ANDREA (piano), GIANNI BASSO(Tenor Saxophone), DINO PIANA (trombone), CICCI SANTUCCI (trumpet).
The result is a psych and dark jazz-funk sound that perfectly fits the anxious descent into the labyrinth of the human psyche.
This soundtrack is considered one of the best, still underrated, Italian soundtracks ever, as well as one of the most unforgettable Italian jazz sessions of the 70s. Similar at times to Miles David Bitches Brew but with more vairety and deeper Psychedlic touches, an absolute masterpiece and will be hugely cvollectable in due course.

SOFT HEARTED SCIENTISTS "TAKE TIME TO WONDER IN A WHIRLING WORLD" buy it here on vinyl

SOFT HEARTED SCIENTISTS - "TAKE TIME TO WONDER IN A WHIRLING WORLD" (YOU ARE THE COSMOS 40, SPAIN IMOPRT LP), wonderful album by these Welsh Psychedelic wizzards. From the stalwards of the British Psych scene comes a fantastic record. The enticingly-named 'The A470 Song' begins the journey with Spacemen 3-like droning and a vocal that is part narration, part-singing. Its slightly dark theme proves to be the exception to the rule. 'I Wanted You' is a jolly little number, 'Light Years To Nothing' is a hopeful song with a fine key change for the chorus and the harmonies on 'Meet Me At The Milky Way' suggest The Fifth Dimension have reformed. Other highlights include the epic 'Siberia' and 'I'll Be Happy, I'll Be Sleeping' with its key lyric of "We'll be dead by the second half of the century" making no attempt to deny they may be stuck in a time warp. Thankfully, unnecessarily extended codas to songs are kept to a minimum too. At a time when most bands stick to one mood on a record, 'Take Time To Wonder...' is a multi-coloured pop opus where the unashamedy nostalgic influence is a strength rather than a weakness. Sealed copy up for grabs now!
